Apple Cider

Ingredients

  • 3 cracked cinnamon sticks

  • 1 tsp black peppercorns

  • ½ tsp whole cloves

  • 3 cracked cardamon pods (can substitute for ½ tsp ground cardamon)

  • 1 tsp maple syrup

  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg

  • 5 cups unsweetened apple juice

  • ½ tbsp orange zest

Directions

  1. Add all dry spices except nutmeg to a saucepan on medium heat for 4-5 minutes until aromatic; constantly swirl the saucepan to prevent spices from scorching

  2. Add nutmeg, apple juice, orange zest, and maple syrup. Bring to a boil

  3. Reduce heat to simmer for 15-20 minutes. Longer the simmer, the stronger the cider

  4. Filter through a strainer in to cup or mug, then allow to slightly cool. Enjoy!
